DHUDIKE: Patriotic fervour marked the first day of Ghadar Shatabadi Kafila (centenary caravan) as it went through villages of members of Ghadar movement. Tributes were paid to known and unknown freedom fighters, who took part in the Ghadar movement, which turned out to be a major force in intensifying the Indian freedom struggle.

Members of Desh Bhagat Yaadgar Committee, which is organising the march, waved flags of Ghadar Party and sang patriotic songs, moving from one village to another. They were accorded rousing welcome by residents of each village.

A team of musicians led the ornately decorated vehicle that had photographs of Ghadar movement and its flags on all sides. Members of the Kafila urged the villagers to follow the path of Ghadar members to help establish a just and noble society.

"We want to involve more people and got stupendous response from villagers in return. Wherever the Kafila went, the mood turned patriotic," said Desh Bhagat Yaadgar Committee trustee Amolak Singh.

In a bid to reach out to villages belonging to Ghadrites, the Ghadar Shatabadi Kafila started on Thursday from Jalandhar and entered Malwa region, after crossing the Satluj canal. "The march is aimed at projecting the lives of Ghadarites like Sohan Singh Bhakna and Kartar Singh Sarabha," said Amolak.
