Letters to the Editor Volume 5 Issue 2

Dear Editor,

The cover story titled “Is there something called Indianness”, was very well written. I really enjoyed the part where the author has talked about the idea of patents and copyrights being alien to India.

Dear Editor,

The cover story titled “Is there something called Indianness”, was very well written. I really enjoyed the part where the author has talked about the idea of patents and copyrights being alien to India.

It probably stems from the concept of sharing that is extremely prevalent in our country even today. The concept of Atithi Devo Bhava or "the guest is god" is still very prevalent and you can see that Indians go out of their way to ensure their guests are comfortable, irrespective of their economic background. It was eye opening to know that we have had a long tradition of argumentative Indians as pointed out by the author who cites many examples from the past. It is very encouraging as it will help us feel free to express our views and hear what others have to say, aiding us in our quest for the truth. Please continue publishing such interesting articles.

Wishing you all the best.

Dear Editor,
Thank you for another interesting issue of Ghadar Jaari Hai, containing very rich analysis of the Indian history and science. I was specially moved by reading the glimpse of the ancient Medicare systems based on Mr Jaggi’s article. It is remarkable indeed to note that the state in India all through its history functioned as a welfare state and provided well organised health facilities to the destitute and the poor.

I wonder what has happened to the modern India, where the destitute is still denied good quality health care, with significantly high maternal mortality and infant mortality.

Hoping to see the same India again….

Dear Editor,
I thoroughly enjoyed your magazines issue, specially the article on Indianness. We are so quick to think of cricket and bollywood when we are asked to describe what is Indian. The article was an eye opener and urges one to think of what Indianness truly means. I have been following your magazine online as well.
Sometimes, I wait for days before a new article is up. It would be amazing to read the articles on your website regularly. I like the look and feel of the website. Keep up the good work. Congratulations to you and your team!
